Hi all,
I added a yellow coris wrasse to my 50 gallon (not really a QT tank) QT tank 3 weeks ago. I did not see it for two weeks and assumed the worst. Well last night I happened to catch the little bugger weaving in and out of the rock work. As soon as he saw me though he swam right into the sand. The only other tank mates are 4 smaller locally caught killie fish and a few local snails.

Will this guy ever warm up? My friends and family already think I am nuts with this hobby. If I have to tell another person that I have a beautiful yellow fish that lives in the sand they may have me committed. Thanks.

Shaun

Mine is just starting to warm up a little. I canb sit in front of the tank or next to it with no problems but if I actually touch the tank he's gone. Same with my melanarus wrasse.

Hahaha. Yeah I just saw him out again. I must have been 6-7 feet away from the tank but he still sensed my presence and he went sand diving. I have had fish piss me off before, but they never hurt my feelings until now:biglaugh:. Good to know there is some hope Chief!

Don't take it personal. When I had mine I only used to see him only on the weekends due to my work and lighting schedule. I named him Waldo after "Where's Waldo????" Feel free to use the name :lol2:

Wrasses burrow into the sand when stressed or frightened. I just got a Lunarre Wrasse and Yellow Coris, very good fish and are always out an about and swimming towards me for food.

BUT they are heavy sleepers... lol

i got a Yellow Coris a week or 2 ago and i have only seen teh little guy once. lol

Thank god i have a secure tank lid (they are jumpers and will carpet surf). He/She jumped a few times when they were first introduced and i could hear his/her little body hit the lid. I felt bad!

Well the one time i did see the Coris it was with the lights off and only daylight , i tried to sneek up and peep, seemed to be weaving in and out the rockwork picking off pods , so i hope thats a good sign.
