You can keep a male and female together without any problem, as they've been breeding them for quite some time now. As with most Dottyback/Basslet they can be aggressive towards other fish but for the most part the Fridmani or Orchard is one of the lest aggressive of the bunch. So you'll need to take into account that they may attack small Gobies or small wrasse. A 90gal tank, with a lot of rock work for hiding places, will work. If you plan on having 2 of them I would introduce both at the same time. Do a search so you can tell the difference between male and female. The difference between the two is the shape of the tail, as they otherwise look alike.

For once I'm going to disagree with Jim. I had one for 5 years and it was a model citizen. If you could get a pair that would be great. Very hardy fish if you get tank raised.

I have read that they are asexual ..changing sex when neccessary ...so if I got 2 what are the chances that they will become a pair or kill each other ?

Yeah I agree, if you do get a 2 orchid dottybacks it is best to put them in tank at the same time.

I have orchid dottyback that lays eggs all the time but no one to fertilize them.
