I acclimated four fish and put them in my tank. A firefish, a chalk bass, a dispar anthias and an orange spotted goby. The firefish was out and about in a day. The bass took about 3 days. The anthias took about 5 days and still just comes out for a few seconds at a time. I have not seen the goby since I put him in. I have no crabs, not even hermits. Any chance he is alive. It's been 10 days. The tank is an Aquapod 24 gallon with lots of places to hide in the rock.

Bren..it's an Aquapod, so probably ;)

It might still be in the rockwork Sam, I wouldn't worry yet. I sometimes don't see my pink goby for weeks at a time.

I dont know who sold you 4 fish at one time for a 24 gallon tank.(not the best idea) Just keep your fingers crossed for it to pop out of its hiding place but it doesnt sound like you have any aggressive fish to keep it in hiding so in my opinion it probably did make the small spike from adding so many fish at once.

Gobies are funny creatures. Give him some time. Generally speaking they will come out once they feel secure and establish some type of spot in the tank to hide in. My firefish goby took about 2 weeks to come out.

I presumed him dead, but lo and behold he was out.

Well I am hoping he does show up. It looks like some of you had similar sitiations that turned out well.
If he jumped I would have found him on the floor because I have no pets that would 'clean up'.
I tested and did not notice any spike. It is true that 4 is a lot to add at one time. But they are all small except for the Anthias. And I did take some extra precautions to make sure it could handle the load.

I had a six line wrasse that disappeared in my AP24 for a month, I found it in the back chamber alive and well. He's disappeared back there 3 times since.

anthias will if not already be way to big for that tank
I was a bit concerned. But I based my decision on the following from Live Aquaria:

The Dispar Anthias is a reef inhabitant in the wild. It is a shallow water species that thrives best in a 125 gallon aquarium with one male and up to ten females. When housed singly, 25 gallon tank is sufficient.

There active swimmers like tangs, if fed right they are also a big load. IMO, not an aquapod fish. And yes, don't add 4 fish like that again.

Singly?!! You added 3 other fish.

Also, what about getting advice from Manhattan Reefs instead of a site selling fish? :sad2:

Not sure what the question is.
As far as getting info you are right. The problem is when you want to do something you ignore the advice that says no and then you look till you find one that says yes.
But lets get back to my question. What happened to my shrimp goby. Is it worth looking for him. Its been two weeks since I put him in the tank.

Sorry, that was a rhetorical question. Live Aquaria is in the business of selling fish; it's in their best interest to have their livestock appeal to a larger audience. That's not to say their recommendation can't be done though.

Singly?!! You added 3 other fish.
I did not understand Singly?
If the question is whether I did it one at a time or not the answer is
I added 4 fish in total at one time. And I also added snails and a pepermint shrimp. everything seems fine except for the missing goby. Actually I do not know if the anthias is ok since he does not seem to be eating. He finally is swimming around instead of just hiding but I really do not see him eating. I also put in pods so maybe he is eating them.

the antia is probably stressed out due to not enough area to swim.. from what I know they are like tangs and need a lot of vertical swimming room.. a stressed out fish won't eat.
