I currently have a six line in my solana and was thinking about picking up a longfin fairy wrasse. the six line was recently moved over from my 14g (so shouldnt have a territory issue) would that work?
lol, alrighty then, got my answer.
is the longfin wrasse more compatible with other wrasses? has anyone had experience mixing different types of wrasses?
ahh ok. I'm getting in some picassos on tuesday and will be QTing them. Should I remove my sixline all together or can I swap the clowns and sixline when time comes? (ie, move clowns into solana and sixline into QT). That way the solana isn't "his" anymore.
or I could just get rid of the sixline and get a fairy wrasse...
Mixing wrasses is a tricky business. It depends on how large your tank is. It depends on the personality of the wrasses. It depends on how large they are. It depends on the position of the sun in the sky and the lunar calendar (okay, maybe not that, but you get the idea).
I have a male and female pylei wrasse and added a halichoerus wrasse without any problem. The halichoerus wrasse is larger than the largest of the pylei wrasses. I tried a small, docile leopard with the two established fairy wrasses and they tried to kill it. It was also a smaller tank (40br vs. a 75).
The only guarantee is not to mix wrasses at all. Otherwise, you do it with extreme caution.
LOL. thanks chief. i'm going to tell him that when i get home.
Alright, sounds like he's going out the door. ugh... not looking forward to catching him... Any recommendations to catching him without removing live rock? was thinking about "attempting" to net him while i distract him with food.
