In my endless back and forth between adding a wrasse or a dwarf angel, I started wondering if I can do both. Originally I was deciding between a flame angel and coral beauty but then decided they are too risky in a reef and also developd a flatworm problem so I started consdering wrasses. I really like the leopard wrasses but have a hard time finding one locally so also am looking at flashers, melanarus and fairy wrasses. Now I'm wondering if I can get away with a Potter's angel and one of the smaller wrasses. What do you think?

Tank info - 65 gallon + 20 sump, mixed reef, plenty of live rock ( along with flatworms and bryopsis though I'm starting to make progress against them ).

Current inhabitants - 2 True Percs, 2 Purple Firefish, 1 Pink-spotted Shrimp/watchman Goby, 3 PJ Cardinals, 1 Shrimp goby ( I believe the genus is nematodes ), shrimp, snails and hermits and one diadema urchin.

IMO ... I wouldn't do the Potter's, hit or miss with these guys ... plus not always the easiest fish to keep ... had one ... ate prepared foods ... kept him well fed ... but still had a taste for SPS ... I love Fairy Wrasses ... any of them ...

I would say you can get away with both, consider maybe a radiant wrasse aswell they also eat flatworms not as fragile as the leopard wrasse

Dave he already knows the risk lol his question was more of can his tank handle 2 more fish, at least thats how I read it

I guess it also depends on your filtration, good protein skimmer is a big plus

I had a yellow coris so I suggest that because their interesting little guys, low bioload and reportedly eat flatworms.

Thanks for the advice. I was looking at a melanarus at the LFS but didnt like the one they had.
Rookie - I understand if getting both fish would be overstocking ( hence my question ) but I dont really see how I am currently overstocked.

I think I'll stick with just one specimen and see what I can get my hands on first, though the flatworms are pushing me towards a wrasse.

For a 65g , you are near the high end stocking wise, which of course carries it's own issues.
Sounds like you need a flatworm eater more than another pretty fish..a Radiant will give you both rolled into one fish and they are smaller in size than the others you are considering :)

ohh the choices. thanks for the advice. im going to stick with a wrasse and see what I can find locally. I'd LLLLLove a leopard wrasse but havent seen them locally and not sure if they might gett too big to be comfortable in my tank. the radiant's look nice as do the fairy and melanarus. unfortunately the lack of lighting at most of my local LFS on their FO tanks make it hard to see the true color of the specimens but i'll keep my eyes peeled.
