my gramma has ich or something that looks alot like it. He is already scratching on rocks and clearly has cysts on his fins and flakes on his body. So much for the copperband butterfly. im ordering a fish trap from doctor fosters and smith that seems to be pretty legitimate im posting a link of it. Im gonna wait for the trap to come and hopefully ill the gramma will be interested in food in a trap by the time it comes. My concern is spreading to other fish. Its a 75 with about 120 lbs of LR and two ocellaris clowns. Im hoping maybe theres a chance it wont spread.

Not to get off topic, but did anyone else get "My Grandma Has Ich" from the subject line at first glance? I had to read it twice.
If it is ich in addition to garlic, highly recommend cleaner shrimp and/or fish. I have several Neon Gobies and a couple of Shark Nose Gobies that got both my Hippo and Orange Shoulder tangs through some sort of parasite problem. In fact they are so industrious they want to clean even when the tangs don't want to be. The good thing about both these gobies is that they will also eat the normal rations I feed the tank and won't starve like Cleaner Wrasses can. I hear that the Spectrum-A food can also be helpful in some situations, but I have no experience with it myself.

If the fish does have ich, you need to get all of them out of the tank and into a QT tank for treatment. The ich WILL be in your display tank (due to the nature of how ich) progresses, and you will need to leave your DT devoid of any fish for 6- 8 weeks to be sure all of the ich has died off.
Might be best to ask if someone can loan you a trap rather than waiting for one to be delivered. Reaction time is important when treating ich.
