Is a standard 75 gallon tank large enough to house a school of bangaii cardinals, like 4-5? Im stuck between bangaii and pajama and wasn't sure how many I could have of each. Other fish is a pair of ocellaris clowns and royal gramma.

Should be fine, they are very docile.

Do your part and avoid wild caught Bangais, they are endangered, go for pj's or captive bred Bangais(good luck with that one lol)

bangaii's won't work in a school. They will fight after a while. I was lucky to get a captive raised pair from a fellow reefer a few years ago . This past weekend the male finally completed the process and realeased 12 babies in my fuge. They are doin fine so far eating live bbs. Hopefully with a little luck i can spread the fish around to others as mated pairs. My son is lovin the whole process. Mike

If you see a tankful of bangers at a lfs, spend a few minutes observing the school. You may see a pair seperate from the bunch. My babies are 3days old and are beginning to show signs of agression towards each other. The pj cards i don't believe will school either. Threadfin cards are a good choice for schooling, but a pair of bangaiis are a must have imo.

I have three PJ cardinals in my 65 gallon tank for about 6 months now and they are doing well. Once they established their heiarchy, the squabbling stopped. I can't say whether I will get a pair ( though thats the hope ) nor how to sex them ( maybe they're all one sex) but they are peaceful, easy to feed and unique looking.

The aggression you're seeing is nothing serious. They generally don't need to be separated into pairs until they're ready to mate. Once a pair develops and they want to spawn, they will harass the rest of banggai's in the tank.
I bought 6 banggai's before and let them pair off and then seperated them into individual tanks once they paired off. I had separate tanks in the same water system for the babies once they were released. It was a fun experiment but too much work for me to keep so I got rid of them all. I never could get the babies to live more then 2 months.
