clown is dying

what happened, my clown has a big chunk of his fin missing and his eft side is red like something bit him. Noticee the blood hanging very close to him

I don't think it was the blood shrimp, what else is in the tank with the clown?

I have 2 sally light foots, 2 blood shrimp, 1 yellow tang, 1 purple tang, and 1 powder tang. the rest is just a lot of snails, hermit,holloween,emerald crabs. The other shrimp are small

sally light foot crabs can be pretty aggressive. id imagine that if the clown was resting a crab could easily grab it if it were big and hungry enough.

The clown loves to host in the anenome and there is a crab in there as well would they nip small fish. Pict included

I would say that the Satan Lightfoot crab just reached maturity and has in fact developed it's hunting instincts.

any way to rid the tank of the sally's ?

You have to hunt them and catch them because they are too smart for traps then take them to someone who has several large trigger fish in a tank and drop them in.

he's still alive but suffering, there is a gash on his side and part of his dorsal wasbitten off. I fee bad . I have him in quarantine but he doesnt look good. Do I terminate him or let him be.

Don't terminate him, that's just not right.

The crab in the anemone is an anemone crab.

I would pour some garlic guard in the quarantine tank, imo its the natural cure for everything especially when it comes to fish.

I think the clown will make it. You have it in QT so you should be okay after monitoring it a lot.

I agree with everybody else that it was the Sally Lightfoot, those things are crazy and creepy.

The porcelain/anemone crab is safe I doubt it was him.

yeah i would only keep a lightfoot if i had big fish or in my sump. they're insane beasts.

Satan Lightfoots make great tankmates for large triggerfish!
