Lost Fish?

hi,.. Well I dont know how many of you had the same issue when you introduced a fish to an aquarium....
I bought an orange spotted goby...
ISSUE: I placed it in the aquarium before yesterday, and when I came from work yesterday.. NO SHOW...
Im looking n looking. n Nothin.. TodY: NOWHERE.... I have about 75lbs of live rock in a 46bow..
I dont know if he's eating , or live or dead...
any idea?..
n Yes I have a glass top.......
What is the usual behavior of this fish?.. does it hide? buried in sand maybe???

If it was just added 2 days ago i'm sure its still hiding.. u'll see it wen it feels more comfortable...

I would ask you if you knew the history of this fish was before you bought it. like did you ask for the guys at the fish store to feed it in front of you. or if you got it from a friend i dont know. all i can say is to give the fish a week. if anything buy some brine shrimp rinse them off and feed it to the tank and stand far away. gobies are very intelligent fish and have excellent eye vision. i could be that he sees you before you see him and he goes into hiding. just be patient and check your nitrate levels if a week goes and you dont see him.

I saw him way under a rock hiding. He's little head only.. I put frozen brine shrimp,. but I dont see him eating.. that worries me ...
I will go and get live now and see what happens..

Where you close to the tank? As stated before, they have great eyesight, thats why some pair up with pistol shrimp.

Try not to worry much Nibalm, it is not uncommon for them to hide out especially when they are first introduced to the tank
He is probably eating by moving within your rock work grabbing pieces of food that settle in there.
You will see him more as he gets comfortable. There are times I don't see my Pink Spotted goby for a week at a time!

I have a orange spotted one and and I don't know how it survives on sifting through sand but it does.Must be catching uneaten food or something.

Same thing happen to me with a flame hawkfishh. He has been MIA for 3 days now and no sign. I moved all my live rock around and nothing. He must have been eaten up but there isn't even a trace of him.
