I agree with Randy. You might get lucky in some of the bigger LFS's on the Island and find something out of the ordinary every now and then but for the most part they are usually your more familiar wrasses out there.
You might also ask a Vendor to order something specific for you.

I have tried them they told me good look with the wrasses I am trying to get. Also the last 4 times I got fish from them they all got sick and died. I really don't prefer to get fish from there any more. I don't know if it was a bad batch of fish or what.

I also asked a bunch of vendors to get them for me, the only thing is there is no warranty on the fish and it could take some time. I also do like to see the fish before I get it, where with the vendors they make sure the fish isnt sick and send it to me.

Absolutely Fish in Clifton, NJ always has very rare fish as well. I was there the other day and they had 3 Clarion Angels.

I vaguely remember this conversation, but I have to apologize, I don't remember the specifics. I do remember you were asking about some pretty rare species though and I don't remember if it was the cost or availability that was the tough part. We do however, have a 48 hour guarantee on our fish and we rarely get any fish back. We don't sell sick fish or fish we think are questionable. If there was an issue with the fish you bought you could have brought it in and let us know. Even if it is after the 48 hours and barring any extenuating circumstances we will give you the replacement or a sizeable discount on another fish. Just let us know about the problem when it happens and we can take care of it. I'd also appreciate it if you could refresh my memory as to what fish you were looking for at the time.

Country Critters has many fish that you don't commonly see. As far as stores on Long Island go. You are most certainly going to 'pay' for that though.

I have also seen many of the vendors here get fish that you don't typically see and we haven't been on this site for very long.

Though whenever looking for a specific fish that is rare when it comes to availability IMO you have better luck dealing with one company/vendor/store that you have a good working relationship with.

As far as the three specific wrasses you are looking for http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/want-buy/41804-want-buy-wrasses.html that you mentioned here, the only thing I came up with on an Google search that seems to have availability is this place http://tropicalaquariumspecialties.com/fish/Wrasses/Fish_Only/index.htm but I know nothing about this site... it just came up in a search.

I still say stand by the one or two establishments that you have bought from in the past and had good experiences with and wait it out. Nothing wrong with giving new places and vendors a try, but always best to go by experiences of others when doing so.

Good luck finding the fish you want. In the past it wasn't unheard of for us to wait six months or more for "that one specific" fish. Considering though the amount of time we have spent in the hobby and plan on spending (we're lifers) it is only a drop of water in the bucket.

I'd try the pet warehouse too. The place is huge so there's a good chance you'll find something different. If I were you, I'd research the fish I want and then see if your LFS can order it for you. The only bad part about that is you can't control what your fish will look like. You'll probably have to pay for it no matter what, unless it arrives to the store dead. Or you can check out an on-line sit like Liveaquaria.com and go to there WhatYouSeeIsWhatYouGet (WYSIWYG) section. The fish will be expensive but you'll almost always see something beautiful and you'll get the same exact fish in the picture. Good Luck!
