fish addition question

Hi all,

I was just thinking of adding more fish to my FOLR tank. My current setup is a 120g w/ sump and 50lb of LR. My current inhabitants are : Magnf. Fox face (5"); maroon strip clown (4") w/ (3)BTA; a Juv blue face (3-1/2"). I wanted to add more color to the tank. Here what i want to add to the tank, suggestions are welcome.

Add:
-Powder blue tang (sm-med) or a Naso
-Yellow tang (Sm)
-Flame angel

maybe one other fish...another large angel if possible. :bablefish
optional fish: a med Wrasse of some sort; Harlequin Tusk.

help too many too choose from....

I'd go with 1 tang, PB or Naso
Flame angel
You could go with another large angel, maybe majestic, something that will allow the blue face to take over later.
And a tusk would be awesome.

Is this a 48" x 24" tank?
I'm sure you know you need to consider the size the fish will be as adults, not the size you purchase them at.

it 5' or 6' long X 24" high.

the reason i wanted the smaller tangs, were so they would grow into the size of the tank. I'm also thinking of the bio load if I add several large fish.

That's good! I hear the length is more important for the tangs.

ok...I've had this discussion about a bazillion times (ok, that might be a little high, but it feels that way).
When fish grow to the 'size of the tank' it is the SAME as putting a child in a small cage and expecting it to live there through adulthood.
Will they stay smaller - more than likely yes.
Is that bad?...definitely
Fish that stay smaller in stature are that was because all of their organs do not develop to full size. More importantly, they don't all stay small equally. In reality one or two are MUCH smaller than they should be and that is detrimental to the animals health.
So, no, not a good idea IMO. Best to get fish that fit the size of the tank at their adult size

I wouldn't place a Naso tang in a tank smaller than 6'. They need the swimming room otherwise they stress out and die. Also be careful about putting another large Angel in with the Blue Face. If the other Angel is too aggressive the Blue Face can be bullied and may stress out and die.

The Flame would work well as would the Harlequin Tusk, just get an Aust. one.

Fish will grow to almost their full size, regardless of the tank size. If the fish is healthy, being feed correctly and the water conditions are good the fish will grow. If the condition aren't good, and the fish isn't growing, then it's not health and probably will die in time. Remember most saltwater fish live well over 10 years and some well over 20 but most of the growth is done very early on.

I always loved the Blonde Naso. It's beautiful, just be careful of those spikes on their tails. I always keep reef tanks so I've never had the chance to won one. When I worked at a fish store, it was always one of the more beautiful fish we would carry.

A Harlequin Tusk would be a great addition but I'm not sure if you have any inverts, if you do than it would be a bad idea.

the only invert i have are (3) BTA, which is hosting a large gold stripe maroon clown. I still want a tang...Naso or Hippo...
