Hi gang -

I've had a clarkii clownfish for about 2 years now, and she's approximately 2.5 inches long.

I want to get her a partner (yes, it's a bit late), but I'm not sure where to start.

I'm thinking I need to get another clarkii that's smaller in size, so it will become the male... but do they always pair up? Or will they end up fighting?

thanks,

I would bring the Clarki with you to the store, have all her potential mates strut their stuff, perhaps do a little dance in front of her, generally show off the goods. After she picks one out you can negotiate a little with the madame, um.. store employee, and if all works out don't be upset if your fish is a little nervous at first, nature will take over in the end.

 :kidding:

Use a plastic container like the ones used for bettas. An established female clown may attack and kill the small clown your introducing, so best to let them get aquainted before letting it lose. I have been successful using this method with maroons and it made a world of difference.

First I tried it without and the female attacked the male like a savage, so I had to remove it, then I did it the other way for a few days, and it went after it a bit, but ultimately accepted it into its anemone and the rest is history

Gluck
