I'm getting another True Perc for my little guy but I have to order it online to get the same exact fish (same supplier). I'm curious to know what all of you think might happen if I buy 2 more just in case one dies. I'm going to buy a medium sized perc to match with my small perc but I'm thinking about buying another small one too. Has anyone ever heard of 3 percs living together in a reef tank?

has anyone kept a clown in a holding cage inside the tank (like the ones at LFS) until they found another clown (like a few days?) that they liked, instead of buying both clowns from the same place.. i was just wondering because i've seen some reg. clowns with slightly unique patterns mixed in with totally reg. clowns... maybe if you did that you could wait until the lfs got another batch with more slightly unque clowns

I have 3 clowns, 2 false perculas and 1 black and white perecula, they were introduced at different times. All three were getting along very good, then I purchased an anemone and the two orange perculas do not let the black one go to the anemone. They do not chase nor bother the black one.
I think that I might need to get another black and white percula and an anemone.
Best thing that I could recommend would be to place the new one in a holding cage inside the tank for a while.
Best of luck.

:scratchchin: so black clowns can get along with orange ones, but my question is will a naked clown become friends with a black clown if they are introduced at the same time.. or if one is in a holding cage, then placed into a diff bucket while the other is acclimating to make sure he thinks this is a new home and then put in at the same time... i think that would be cool if it could happen..

:approve: I agree, and I would suppose that if both are amphiprion occelaris or both are amphiprion percula then it is a possibility.

The problem I see with your theory is that you're buying a medium sized perc. The solitary one you have currently might have already begun to morph into a female. If you get a medium one it might already be a female and then you could have aggression issues.

It would be better to get another of the same type (if you're trying to mate them) that is smaller than the one you have.

Ok before my switchover and break down and etc I had 3 clarkii's and 2 percs living together in a 55 for about 2 months until I was able to catch the clarkii mafia and give them to the LFS.

Multiple clowns in the same tank usually is not an issue. False Pers and true pers can usually stay together.

Using tiny tank for small fish is a safe measure to introduce new fish.

True and False pers Aggression usually is morphing or just an individual clown's physc issue.
