I think I will use this thread to log my adventures into rearing seahorse fry. About 50 were in the tank Sunday morning 03/02/08, I transferred them into a separate container and fed them BBS this morning. As you can see in the pictures they are mostly transparent and you can see their digestive tracts filled with the salmon colored BBS they have been gobbling all morning. Enjoy the pics:

out of 50, 10 died within 5 days, and the rest I had to give away last night because I got a really low hatch-out rate from the brine shrimp hatchery yesterday...hopefully with 3 hatcheries running at the same time I will be more successful with the next brood...I did, however keep 8 and they are still alive and kicking!

Any updates?

Update

Ok, sorry about not updating this thread in a while but I was having a problem keeping the babies alive past 14 days. I do, however, have 1 seahorse that has remained alive for about 6 weeks now. He has grown tremendously in that time, almost 4 times the birth size. As you can see in the pictures he is enormous compared to the brood that was just birthed yesterday. The next trick is to get him weaned onto frozen which by all accounts is the single most difficult thing to do. Anyway, enjoy the pics!!
