Foxface colors

I got a onespot foxface a week ago. Everything is good about it: active, grazing all day on rocks, eating nori, flake even mysis that's intended for my other fish. The only thing is, he's not completely yellow.

The top half is a browny kind of color while the bottom half is the yellow that I like.

I've been feeding a variety of foods: flake, nori, spirulina frozen cubes all soaked in selcon and garlic. Still after a week, the horrible brown color persists.

Has anyone had experiences like this with their foxfaces?

Rabbit/Foxfaces change colors quite a bit. Also the one that you have maybe going through some changes and picking up more adult colors. If you can post a picture of yours or a picture of a similar one we can determine if it's changing to more adult colors.

Sure Marrone, I'll see if I can borrow my sister's camera. To sum it up, it's a getting a black back, which I've read about a little on wetwebmedia. Does this mean it's maturing?

It's turning into its adult colors, so if you want to say it's maturing then yes it's maturing but it does take time for it to reach full adult colors.

OK here are some pics ... sorry, I'm very bad at taking them, but you do get an idea of the color. So is it indeed becoming an adult?

And how long does it take to reach its full colors???

And are its adult colors brighter than its juvenile colors? Sorry for all the questions, haven't foudn this info anywhere in my books or on the net

Well your lucky to get one thats so brave,mine and my cuzs hid for a while when first introduced, and they change colors alot,no cause for caution.

yeah I've seen him change colors too at nighttime, when he's pissed etc. But this black back seems to be permanent. I hope it's not!!! What have your experiences been?

it will probably get much more yellow in time, but it won't be over night. heres something to look at in the mean time

I've had mine for almost 2 years, he really colored up after 5 months, he so cute i've taken him off the market. i am make a custom mussel so he won't pick on my acans.................j/k
