I have 2 clowns. One is missing-the bigger of the two.
I also have a baby hippo tang that is missing, but I assumed he was hiding from the aquascaping I did yesterday(He is very little .75") and gets scared easy. I havent seen him since Tuesday afternoon.
The clown I just noticed. I saw it 4 hours ago(6PM WED)

I've looked all around the tank, and surrounding areas. Looked all over the tank(But I havent moved rocks around), the clown never hides.
I am clueless.

Could the massive amount of microbubbles I have(Had a pump prob over weekend) kill him?
I did recently add a piece of LR(about 1 week ago) but I didnt notice any holes or caves in the rock(pretty solid piece)?

Tank has no cover(Ive had it for 6 months now)

ANY IDEAS???????????

No cover....
I dont know what could have startled it..... I did watch Bourne ultimatium......
I have a cat, but I dont think she ate anything(she was with me the whole time)
I just looked at the new rock, no way anything big enough came in the rock.
I think its one of those things...Ill be looking for a small skeleton everywhere.:frown::frown:

one fish I've never heard of jumping out of a tank has been clown fish, tangs are also not known to jump.

test the water, if there is ammonia and nitrites then you know something has died :(

I would also stay away from tangs, the tank is too small for them. They can get big rather quickly.

One of Eric's clownfish jumped. He found his cat playing with it.

I agree with Jonathan. Your tank is too small for a hippo tang. I realized that it was tiny, but that could be one of the reasons it died. I know for certain that some tangs (i.e. Clown Tangs) are often caught extremely young and then don't make it in captivity. Just a thought.

It might not be anything you did. Sometimes ... fish just die. :( Sad but true.

Maybe I'm a fatalist, but I still think they're dead. :( I lost two fish within a month about 4 months ago. Both fish were eating and happy then *poof* gone. Never saw them again. No nitrates or ammonia, tank was fine, skimmer maybe kicked up a little extra but other than that ... like I said, sadly these things just happen sometimes.

JHALE: i thought that also... but the cat was sitting with me all day(she is very needy) for the time period in question...she was with me, im her alibi..

JHALE: see how bad i need that cover. once I have it, im getting a firefish.
I might even get a new pair of clowns and give the one I have left away.

Mine didn't care about the tank either, until I parked a chair next to it where she can get at eye level with it. She leaps at it and paws the glass and all of the fish scatter for cover. :) I don't think your cat helped the fish out. Maybe the tang got chased by one of the clowns and took a leap. Who knows. Fish are strange.

Do you have an anemone in there?
