I just got a new imperator angel juvi and hes worrying me a bit

I just added a juvi imperator to my 125 fowlr. At first he was kinda active picking on rocks etc., I got him sunday afternoon and he is still kinda just chilling behind one particular rock, will venture out a little but barely. There is a few semi aggressive fish (small niger, small cherr louti grouper, cinnamon clown) but nothing that even noticed him. I bought some garlic to entice his appetite.

Maybe Im just paranoid because of his price, but its been 3 days

My tank was an upgrade and the new tank was running roughly a month (old one with all the rock, sand for 4-5 years) I had about 5 fish in there and all were doing great. My parameters are perfect, even my phosphates and nitrates undetectable (Aquarium pharmaceutical test kit). Ive been testing every few days for mini-cycles and nothing!

Is this normal for an imperator?

Try putting a fresh clam or mussel near his hangout to get his appetite going.

if the frozen angel/butterfly food w/ garlic doesnt work Im gonna have to pick one up tommorow, but with the niger, grouper and some others if hes even a little hesitant hes not gonna get any of that clam

Yea, today would be day 5 (almost 4 full days) and still isnt swimming around, eating etc. Should I go to the LFS and tell them and hope for a empathetic reaction? or shoudl I just wait. One of the downsides of buying fish from LFS, compared to prooven healthy and captive acclimated fish from other members

you could try trying to direct feed him abit. I am goin through the same thing with a large lion my friend gave me. feed the others on one side of the tank and try too get some to him on the other. I hate it when they do that!!!! my lion seems to be alot more active witht he light out also.

The very reason why I have given up on LFS fish purchase. Nothing against the LFS themselfs. I am not blaming the LFS for what is happening to these fish. What I am saying is that these fish go through so much from the very start of their capture to the transports, and such that it becomes a crap shoot with which will be strong enough to make it. I am sticking to other hobbiest fish from now on.
Inked, that lion will eat eventually as long as your water is good. What you will be complaining about in the near future is that the lion is so greedy you are having a hard time feeding the fish because he grabs everything before the others have a chance to eat.

He still sitting there just facing one rock not doing anything but just swimming in place and he starting to annoy me. I know its not his fault but for a $100 id appreciate if he began enjoying life, swimming food, some rock grazing, etc.

BTW awibrandy, im w/ you and im gonna stick with other members, becuase I cant afford a crap shoot any longer

Only paid 60.00 for mine and doing great.Now my sunburst Anthias is doing that.Hiding all the time.He's a newbie too.I should of paired him up with another one.
