This one was my third, and last try to keep my absolute favorite fish!! And now he too is gone!!
14

The first one I was stupid while doing the upgrade. I totally forgot to rinse the ESV sand(new). The second was another stupid mistake called impulse buy at Petland.
Now the third I purchased from Wonderful World of Fish from Steve. The 3" majestic ate mysis, and formula 1 flakes, and looked healthy therefore I felt confident.
He was in my 120 fowlr which became over croweded when I had to evict the three tangs out of my 155 reef, and put them in it. Currently there are 2 pt., 2 yellow, 1 sailfin tangs, 1 blue throat trigger, 1 dogface puffer, 1 orange toad fish, 1 zebra eel, 1 med. maroon & 1 small clarkie, and a damsel. No one was troubling the angel, he was immediately protected by the larger of the yellow tangs.:) I had him for 2 to 3 weeks, and I noticed his eyes didn't look good. Not exactly pop eye, but they were cloudy. I went to Pet Smarts, and purchased Pima Fix. I removed carbon, poly pad, and took the skimmer of line. I do have 4 mj running on a wavemaker, and a Eheim1262 turned down via a ball valve as the return pump. I dosed the tank according to manufacture's recommendations Wed. & Thurs.. I feed mysis, angel formula cube, Formula 1 pellets, sea weed flakes, prawns, silver sides all soaked in Garlic, ran out of selcon. I do 20 to 25% weekly water changes with RO/DI. I did all I could think of to provide a proper home for not only the majestic, but for all my fish. All the other fish are healthy, swimming around, eating, a little on the chunky side.
What did I do wrong? I feel absolutely horrible that I have caused the death of 3 amazingly gorgeous creatures the good Lord created. This will most definitely be my last try with this particular fish as I do not believe on trying more then three times. Especially with the last time not doing anything wrong that I can put my finger on.:sad2:

Awilda,

Hello. Sorry to hear about your loss. It seems that you did everything in your power to insure a healthy environment for that fish. For some reason some people can keep certain fish and corals easily while the rest of us struggle with a particular species. Some times it's unexplainable or just dumb luck. Sorry once again for your loss.

:(:(:(

Awilda it's sad, but you did all you can do. You feed just like I do. I have a Majestic Angel(Just Like Yours), Queen Angel, French Angel, Koran Angel all doing great, Blue Face, however I am going on my 4th Emperor Angel, don't know why I can't keep them. I have no luck with them, yet others have them for many years, beats me. All we can do is keep trying...

BTW the grouper I got from you for my friend is doing FANTASTIC, so him last night.

I don't believe in luck or bad luck with these fish. I think many of these fish simply funk out from the ocean to your tank. Somewhere in between the exchange of hands and posibly even begining with the capture the fish begin to fail.. Even though we see them swimming at the store or when we get them delivered they are already on their way to lala land. I am so seriously contemplating changing my new 125 gallon setup back to fresh water. I bought an Annularis from a LFS here in NJ that keeps very good loking fish. I dare you to go in and find a dead fish - chances are high you wont. But when I brought this fish home I unfortunately saw something that I didn't see in the store. The fish had a cloudy eye - now of course he has popeye and Im hoping good feeding and water quality can get him past it. But, I seriously beleive many of these fish just go bad because they dont adjust to captivity and begin a slow system shut down. Unfortunately for the customer - the slow system shutdown is long enough to pass by the wholesale/resale process and so we end up with the dead fish. Especially the rule for Tangs and Angels. Uggghhh the most expensive fish out there!!!

and may I add I am a working family man and Im not about to start wasting $150 here and there looking for a fish that can survive!!!!!!

Thank you NYAUX,Chief,AP,CK,Pnoy,Bikini,and Tito!!

Wingo, he had no other signs of disease what so ever. Even after deaths the other fish didn't pick on him. When I looked for him this morning I found him dead. His body was intact, he even still had his eyes. I have always found that the eyes is the first thing the others eat when a fish dies.
IF I ever try again it will be with one out of someone's system that has had it for a while. No more from the ocean!!

Don't be so hard on yourself, as said before, we never know what the fish we buy go through before we get them. It's not like you bought this fish with disregard to it's needs. For all you knew it was Cyanide caught. Remember a lot of these fish come from fairly to very poor countries. So any means that a easy and cheap could be used to catch them.

Thank you G, I know exactly how you feel. I for one as I already stated will not buy another from any where. If I am blessed to come across one out of someone's system then, and only then will I attempt to keep this beutiful fish again.

Thank you Kat!

Thank you for your kind words Psycho graphics. I am sad, and feeling a little cheated by the fact that I cannot have my favorite fish.;(
As someone earlier stated, I do have all the other beautiful animals to comfort me. Especially my big boy, Nehron. Nehron has been following me around all day today.:) I guess he is sensing how I feel.:happysad:

Thank you Steve!

Geraldo, anytime!

Tito, thank you for your concern! But honestly, it is the loss of the life that bothers me the most. No I am not loaded, I do make my sacrifices to have and care for the animals that I have.
As far as I am concerned being able to enjoy their beauty, and the peace my animals bring me are very much worht missing out on a new pair of shoes, dress, dinner out, getting my hair or nails done. Or going on vacations. I think you get the picture.

I love my animals, and there is nothing in this world that could possibly replace the joy, and peace I get from them.
