I have a few questions about an algae blenny.

Is it reef safe (I have zoa's and green star polyps)? Will I be able to keep it in my 36 gallon tank? The one I wanna get is around 1.5'' long. Is that too big? Will it scare my damsel? What does it eat...algae..and when that runs out..will it eat brine shrimp?

Thanks in advance,
Ajaya

Mine etas the green algae of the rocks and glass. Yes, it is reef safe in the fact it won't eat corals. However, mine hops around them so they close up when that happens, no real major affects though. My blenny eats frozen, mysys, krill and the marine cuisine with spirulina. Hope this helps.

Algae blennies are great.....but only now am I having success...in that I've had it almost a year. In the past, I have found that algae blennies eat well, have full guts, and then waste away anyway. An LFS guy suggested that it may be because they were eating too many animal-rich foods....and they do love flake food. At any rate, my other blennies just scraped the tank for algae....this guy does that as well, but it is the first I have seen to eat caulerpa..(nothing eats my caulerpa...not even my tangs...). So it may be that mine now has enough variety in algae (in summer it also gets Ulva and Gracillaria) to offset the flakes that it also eats.
