My male clown is getting a beat down by the female clown. The both share an anenome. They are always together but the female charges at the male for most of the day and lately i have noticed torn fins. Is this normal behavior? or is my female one mean Bilatch?

Correct

Moderator is correct.

Female clowns will show dominance till the male becomes submissive. Sometimes it can take months or a couple good bites to the fins. The female is doing this so she can assure that the male will be attentive to her and to her eggs when they reproduce.

I have two akindynos clowns my female would chase the male around all day and nip at him till he would convulse and shake to show his submission to her. Now at 4 and 3 inches he knows his roll and when she comes at him he shakes and chats back at her making noises.

If the attacks do not subside or the fish is severly injured you may seperate them. If a clown doesnt not accept the smaller one after awhile its either not meant to be or it maybe a female female pair that u have.

Good luck
