just have a question.
I just introduced a gold-rimmed tang to my 90 gallon tank 2 days ago and my power blue keeps beating the crap out of him. is this just the new kid on the block thing or will i have to pull him out?

Like Dean says the only predictable fish is a dead one. Be prepared to have to remove one of them.

Try this trick pull the new fish. then tape 1 or 2 small mirrors to the sides of your tank. The aggressive fish will attack their reflections, after a day or two of not being able to get rid the tank of their reflections they are less likely to bother a newcomer who they look at as a reflection.

lol but back on topic,ya its always expected for tangs to fight,try moving around the scenery if possible and even though I haven't heard of it that mirror trick seems smart.

You could try getting the powder blue out of the tank for a few days then return him back to the tyank. That will let your new fish settle in and let the powder blue forget that he was the boss of the tank.
I did this before and it worked like a charm.

I pulled him out today and put him in my other tank, he was pretty beat up and I couldn't believe how easy it was to get him into the net. He basiclly went into the net himself...like sayin to be " get me the hell out of here"

He looks alot less stressed now in the other tank, just hope he heals well...I really like him.

you could try rearranging the rockwork. then the Powder Blue will feel like a stranger and be less likely to attack.

I kept a pbt and a powder brown tang.. The second has to be a healthy specimen to stick it out the first 3 days if still fighting after that one of them won't make it... Also hope this tank is over 100 gallons more like 180 and up... That helps..

i used to have a powder blue that tries to bully a yellow tang n every1 else too. needless to say, it not only prevent me from getting new fishes, but 1 day, it got cut by another fish n got weak n caught ick then spread it to others n kill off most of the fish.

I think the 90 was just too small for 2 such closely related fish, especially since pbts are quite aggressive.

Good move getting him out. I doubt the aggression would have stopped.

he practically jump in the net for me. I blame myself, stupid me. what everyone always said......research your fish & enviorment you are putting them in before you buy!!! Lesson learned. Just happy i was able to save him. He will be going into my office 55 once up and running.
