I've had a single female maroon clown for a little over a year.
She upgraded her Anthilia housing for a new rose bubble tip anemone
I picked up a couple of months ago-so far so good.
I got it in my head I wanted a pair...not an easy task at this point....
I found (what i thought) a suitable male for her, small, Bright scarlet
and, healthy.
After a lengthy QT, I put the male in a clear drilled container suspended
inside the tank from the top edge.
The female was NOT having it! She began attacking the plexi box over and,
over and, over:shocked1:
After a week of this I released the male to see what would happen....
He's been recovering in a QT for over a month now- fins almost grown back out.
Meanwhile I found another male....not as nice, not as red, with what looks like a harelip.
I put him through QT, then the clear box and, released him last night-to take his chances!
Today I see that the male not only made it through the night,
but also moved into the females old Anthilia patch....but that's not all!
His fins are all there-no bites and, while the female still hangs around her anemone,
I caught this out the corner of my eye...
That's the female hanging out in the Anthlia (gorg in front),with the male
(the blurry red spot, he kept shaking like a leaf ).
This has been going on all day, the female keeps going back and forth from the RBTA to the Anthilia.
No chasing like with the last one, no biting....the quivering has also stopped- they just hang with each other.
I've never tried this before-is this what a success looks like?!:scratchch
