i was thinking of adding as many as i can afford to buy at once, this way i would just let the tank go and see what problems i would have with them. would of love to add them all at once.

was wondering what the asterisks are for too. The other side of this is that you probably won't find all of these fish available with a significant time frame. 365 may sound big but your dealing with animals that come from the ocean and a 365 may not give them enough room to really get a territory they are comfortable with. You named 30 wrasses some large some small, I would try and narrow it down a little. maybe eliminate some of the more common species you see all the time. I like the idea but it may prove to be a little harder to execute due to availability.

All males? If not females are going to be surprisingly hard to find. I'd strike the Peppermint hog as it is quite likely to harass the Flasher wrasses. I'd also avoid the 2 variants of Scott's and Flames. (stick with 1 of each). Also the Radiant really prefers a sand substrate--- not sure how you are going to design this.
I'd also suggest adding most of the flashers first along with the wimpier Fairies like the flame, lineatus, and rhomboid. Most of this will work, but undoubtedly there will be some aggression along the way.

I know you know, but I feel obligated to say it, a very tight fitting lid is a must as all of these are fantastic jumpers.

Thank you all for your reply's (Randy, dean, micheal and lfs). will take all of your points and address it towards my application. This tank will have a 6" to 8" sandbed which alot of the wrasse require sand. as for the asterisks (sorry i did not explain before) is a way of me keeping track of the fish i would be getting for sure if availible
No asterisks- Not my first choice if i have to reduce some fish
1 asterisks and 2 asterisks are a must if compatible. 2 asterisks just lets me know it's an aussie fish so when i start looking into getting them, I tend to like the aussie fish better then most because of there vibrant colors.. as for 3 asterisks means this fish is a Wish I Could Afford list.

Taking the above recommendations even further....

Blue flasher & filamented flasher wrasses are nearly identical. Temmincki, blue-sided, yellowstreaked, exquisite, rose belly are all very similar in coloration and shape.

Disappearing Wrasse Hawaiian and Mystery are similar looking, and my old Mystery ate all my pepermint shrmips...

Lineatus Fairy Wrasse, Red/Pink Margin Fairy Wrasse are similar looking too. A large Lineatus wouldn't get along with the Pink Margin.

Scott's Fairy Wrasse Australian can get quite aggressive and should be towards then end.

And some of the wrasses you listed, their color will fade even when there are females around. And I tried to pair up most of my fishes. Observing their interaction is very neat.

I'm not a big fan of wrasses, I just don't see the big deal, that being said, my 6-line is swweeeeettt. Not sure of compatibility but it has my vote.

And whats up with the hardwicki?? Thats sucks! How can a wrasse with a name like that be bad? Not to mention its the hottest wrasse I've seen.

6-8" sandbed, I'm still getting shivers.

Would'nt it be better to wait at least 2-3 weeks after the setup before introducing them to the new tank this way your tank will be somewhat cycled and it will help with the bioload and hence the chances of their survival.

6 line wrasse will knock off each one of those wrasses right down the list, 1 by 1.

Paul:
If you like your 6 line, it's really easy to appreciate other wrasses.
That's what I started with & Fairy / Flasher wrasses have better color, personality & temperment.

6 line will be the meanest as stated. mine cost me $300 in other wrasse's as well as the 8 line flasher is a aggressive fish. you can also do schools with some of the wrasse's lubbock, longfin and a few other's, a chisle tooth is a nice additive, had it and jim has it now the color's are nice. lmk when ready if you need help.
