I know that it can be hard to keep two wrasses of similar body shape (so basically, any two wrasses not including the possum wrasse) in smaller tanks (i.e. 40g).

Will fairy wrasses tend to act aggressively towards the smaller Bodianus species? (i.e. Yellow Candy Hogfish, Candy Stripe Hogfish)

Lissa,

It could work out fine, but there is definitely the potential for conflict especially in a smaller tank. You are much better off going with a smaller Halichoeres sp. ( when you get your sandbed) as they tend to ignore each other IME. FYI I did just add a very large Bimac Hog to a 75g. that houses a trio of C. pylei ( the male being quite aggressive) and while there is no open aggression yet, the Male pylei is clearly on the defensive.

So you think that a Halichoeres sp. and a hogfish would be okay? Or a Halichoeres sp and a Cihirrilabrus sp. ? (I totally misspelled that)

(Regardless of any of this talk, I still want that pylei. I was so sad when I lost mine last November. :))
