What are you people feeding your tangs ? Is anyone using Seaweed Select ?

Is there a particular food they love. Is the algea growing on the tank enough ?

I have a question about Seaweed Select. I put a piece in the clip and after about 30 seconds in the water it turns to mush. Then the foxface and tang take a couple of pecks and the whole sheet disintegrates and goes in the overflow. How do others give their tangs the seaweed so that they actually get to eat it? Thx.

I feed my Hippo tang Julian Sprungs (i think its called that) Purple Seaweed, as well as mysis, some flake, pellets, brine shrimp.
I vary what i feed them. Like for example, yesterday i gave them some flakes in the afternoon, then put some seaweed (i attach it to a small rock with a rubber band) and towards the end of the night i give them some mysis.
Not sure if there's anything else i should feed them.

I've stopped using Seaweed Select for this exact reason. It seems to completely dry out in the package, then dissolves when placed in water. Now I buy nori directly from a local asian market....it lasts weeks if properly sealed.

In addition to a balanced diet, I also feed my tang Nori (can get it at most supermarkets in the Asian food section). I use a section about 2 x 2 inches and cut the lower part of it with scissors into little strips about 1/8" wide (leave the vertical top 3/4" intact and insert that part into the clip).
This way the fish can tear off a strip and eat it.

(credit for that idea goes to Rich Jackson, tho I'm not sure he invented the idea, but that's where I heard it!)

Listen.... Go to your local asian supermarket and get the $7.99 pack of green not red dried seaweed leave on the clip and walk away from you tank with new tangs... And it will cost you less...Formula 2 is good but small pellets not big, that will entice then faster...Call me the Tang specialist.. I have never had a tang not eat in about 10 years.. Trust me...
