what species of fish are new york reefers actually breeding and rearing generations of in their tanks these days? i'm thinking of getting back into the hobby... If i can find some captive raised species with a track record comparable to saltwater version of guppy or helleri breeding.

thx

Bangaiis would probably be the easiest ones since they are mouth brooders.

remember got some bangais yearz ago and 1 that wasn't eatin had eggs in the mouth but at the time i didnt have time to separate and breed i guess the babies hatched out and get aten or something

anyway bangais i wonder how many generations of captive breeding till some color/fin mutations pop up like they did for guppies, bettas, etc??

you can always speed up the mutation process by selective breeding. But then you have no idea what other genes are hitching along with the desired traits. You may end up with Bangaiis that have really long flowing fins and a love for swimming in circles all day.
