God, I wish I was in Tokyo and already had my tank now. A pair of Rhomboids on sale at my favorite LFS for 39800 yen (around $410). I'm thinking I definitely want a pair for the tank once it's set up.

I know. Careful preparation of the ground would be needed to get this approved by my wife.

I must say, I had to look these up in Kuiter's book, because before that, I was pretty underwhelmed by their "beauty" in the photographs. But, Wow! they sure do have potential, don't they?

They sure do. I have to say, the wrasses were a closed book to me when I had my last aquarium, but when I get my next, they're likely to be one at least of my show specimens, even if not this particularly pricey species.

Just an FYI - at least one LA wholesaler has Rhomboid wrasses in stock this week, but they sure are pricey - not sure what they would retail for, but IIRC, the wholesale cost is close to $400 for a pair.

I've seen individuals on sale for $499 on US websites, so this is relatively speaking, a steal. I'm guessing a pair would go for more like $750. I'm not sure, but I seem to remember reading at some point that they may be found nearer Japan, which might explain that.

I could be wrong but I think that my lfs guy had one of those for sale. He said that it was from Asia and was $500. Pretty cool fish though.

A notorious carpet surfer, like most wrasses, so a cover an absolute must! Otherwise you might have rather pricey cat food...
