Hi folks,
We just graduated the first ever fish collectors from New Guinea and shipped a trial shipment to America to test the logistics.
Have a look at the hi-light of the 3 days of collecting.!

Hope there is more to come.

The first shipment just left PNG this week from what I heard....more to come for sure :)

PNG is the only country to date to have every single collector net trained prior to allowing the industry to start. HUGE props to PNG, Eco EZ and all involved!!!!

One of the trainees first fish ever.
They're here and they are abundant.... and the ban we will make of taking carpet and ritteris anemones will keep it that way.

The true perculas epicenter would have to be here.
Even the big port harbor of Port Moresby is full of them.

[It is their business now....and they become in charge of the news of their fish.]

This from the buyers website;

Papua New Guinea has arrived!
meticulous methods of hand caught sustainable collection to make sure this valuable resource is well protected.
The collectors in PNG have been conducting extensive surveys for over a year and are using only the most
Epaulette Sharks, great clownfish and more… look for the PNG name on the stocklist. More species arriving soon. Papua New Guinea has arrived!

This first was sent small as it was a trial shipment...a test of he connections and the conditions.
It came in fine except for the 60 hour bag time [ since corrected].
We came thru it wiser...and ready for the next load.
We packed and transported fishes in gale winds to shore in an open boat from an island an hour out. Each box was wrapped to keep em dry.
We missed a close connection and had an unfortunate 23 hour layover in Brisbane which is un-acceptable.

We experimented with a number of things and are looking forward to the next shipment which will only take 38 hours to arrive....as a new connection has opened up via Sydney.
We lost 7 % or so...which considering the handicaps and the circumstances was really good.
a NORMAL routine would have put us in the 1-2% doas I'm sure.
And from there, we will fine tune and improve.

7% on the first trial shipment....Now that is a great start :) IF that's what your worst if going to be then your best will be Baja standards (golden standards). Guess that's what happens once some one in the know gets on board ;)
