Just curious who owns one (or someone who owns one) that lives in a reef tank. I would like to know people's opinions/experiences on how reef-safe they really are.

I have an 8 incher in my reef. It has never really paid attention to the corals, but I don't have any Lobos or other fleshy corals in with it. No interest in SPS. It was a challenge to get it eating well... Scott Michael's book is absolutely right in describing their temperment.

I have a 5"er and it doesn't touch anything. I have SPS, some LPS like Chalices, Zoas, Paly's, Xenia, Anthelia. I wouldn't trust him with a clam though.

I only have one clam, so I'm not worried about that (it can be an expensive meal for it :P). What I'm really worried about is my Elegance ... one's that live in captivity aren't common these days, so I'd cry if the Conspic made a meal of it ;)

Still thinking about whether i should try :)

I wouldn't put any large angel in with an elegance. I have seen other larger angels tear them up so I don't see why a Conspic. wouldn't take a bite at some point.

There is a guy on reefcentral selling his 5" specimen for a very good price. But he says it does nip at corals.
