Michael, Scott W., 2009. - Wrasses & Parrotfishes, The Complete Illustrated Guide to Their Identification, Behaviors, and Captive Care. TFH. 399pp.
An ultimate, gold-standard, well-designed reference about Wrasses & Parrotfishes has just been published. It contains almost every species known to science with stunning color photos, most are taken underwater, and some from aquatic sources. His knowledge is outstanding and narration is very useful and also comprehensive like other volumes of his REEF FISHES series. This is the fifth volume in the series and is lavishly colored throughout the book, showing many color variants, juveniles, and displaying males as well depending on the species. He also includes some species described in 2008. He seems to love Fairy Wrasses and spent as many as 50 pages for the single genus. The family Scaridae (Parrotfishes, 50 pages) follows the Labridae.
It is a hard-bound edition, with 399 pages and more than 500 photographs. One of the most beautiful guides to reef fishes is here at last. I highly recommend it.
