Good to hear from you.
You need to download the chat client, the input the proper address.

Go to the MACO site, then to the Fish Husbandry course/How to access chat sessions, and go from there.

I'm using Xchat, and works just fine.
You'll want to add irc.afterx.net, then edit this entry and add us.afterx.net, in the "Severs for irc.afterx.net" windown...then sign in to #fish08. You'll only have to set it up once, although you'll have to enter the #fish08 every time.

Go ahead and get it dialed in now so that if you have issues we can help you through them over the course of the week, or the day. I'll be away from my computer for most of the day, but perhaps someone else here will chime in and help while I'm away.
