It is one of the undescribed species. Has been collected in Okinwa, Taiwan and Cebu (Philippines). Brian Greene (of Marianas) and Hiroshi Senou (Japan) would name it soon.

It has been photographed in southern Japan including Izu Islands, Izu Peninsula, Shikoku, and Okinawa and also Cebu. A deepwater species of around 40-50 meters depth, and a relatively rarely sighted fish.

Hiroyuki,
This looks like a color variant of C. lanceolatus...is this the fish that was once confused with it?

It was once surely regarded lanceolatus (or being close to lanceolatus) by some, but now it is an undescribed one. This species has a prominent curved line on side but lanceolatus does not possess such a line on mid body. I think that this is rather closer to blatteus from the Rd Sea.

Jason, gorgeous specimen and pics. That is an impressive dorsal. I wonder what it looks like displaying.

It is about 3 inches long (8cm).
I put it into our show tank, and will take pics as soon as I can. It took a bit of a beating by a P.cyaneus after intoduction, which surprised me considering the size of the aquarium. I also added a terelabrus sp, cos they're cool and unerestimated!!!
