This is the genus commonly called "hogfish". I want to show some of the more rare and unknown species here.

You can see photos of B. eclancheri the "harlequin hogfish" in this thread:
http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=94962

This is a juvenile of Bodianus speciosus, found in the Eastern Atlantic.

Man, the first one is great! :D

But have you seen the adult? :) http://fishbase.org/Photos/ThumbnailsSu ... hp?ID=8272

Like all Bodianus I know, the juvie looks very different (and much prettier) then the adults.

That's a link to B. eclancheri. :D The adults from the Galapagos are actually very cool looking, cooler looking than the juveniles. See the above linked thread.

B. speciosus is a dark red with a lunate tail in the intial phase, and terminal phase males look like the picture below. A big brute of a fish you wouldn't want to put in a reef tank. ;)

Here's the juvenile of B. eclancheri, and the typical adult terminal phase that occurs in the Eastern Pacific.

easily identical from B. opercularis by the brown joint stripe on tail. The color was not bright as B. opercularis. But still, I love him!

Wow, that is beautiful. Looks like it is mimicking a Wetmorella or arrowhead wrasse. Some Epibulus spp. wrasses do the same thing.

Thanks Pavaphon!

Hmm, is it Kop Khoon Khrop? My Thai is really bad.
