Will be adding a Volitan Lion, possibly a Banana Eel.

Would like to add a yellow tang.

Let me hear all your thoughts guys. I do keep on top of water changes.

Without the Volitan Lion and eel you're above the stocking limit I would normally suggest. :sad2:

I'd love to do the upgrade:biglaugh:, but I love my stand & canopy. Maybe I can do a 110 tall. I'll have to look into that. Although I don't like the height....

I would say bioload and swimming room. Those fish are poop factories and also can get a little aggressive.

Hi B, I'm not really concerned with the bioload. I'm a homemaker. If need be I can do water change more frequently.:wink1:

if you upgrade go with a longer tank, more room to swim if you going to stock more of fish, I have 265g with 28 fish are more 3 to 4 inch

I had a Powder Brown Tang, Hippo and Blue throat in a 90 and I felt it was WAY to small for them and they were all pretty small. I ended up giving them away and the hippo died . IMO Awilda you are WAY WAY over the stocking limit. PBT are super poop factories and need lots of space. Purple Tangs are up there as well and so are Blue Throat triggers. If you've seen Chris' (loismustdie) tank then you'd probably agree that a 180 is the bare minimum for the three fish I've just mentioned. After doing it, I wouldn't again keep those three in anything smaller than a 180.

Hi Fred. I would love to have a minimum of 400gl. tank for them.
And I'll be putting a little pressure on hubby.:wink1: My basement is quite large, but short on ceiling height. But a tank doesn't need all that much height. So God willing as my babies grow I will be gently be persauding hubby into a fish room. Perfect place, alot cooler, and alot more floor stability. Only draw back is they won't be in my sight at all times.

Guys, I'm sorry I realize I must have come across as looking for validation. I promise I wasn't. I was confirming what I already knew, if that makes any sense. I told you all my biggest fault is the "Rescue All" instinct in me, and slama's yt needing a home.

Oh, and I am scraping the volitan lion, and the banana eel will probably never be. The eel was to replace my previous Best girlfriend's eel that I stupidly allow to go to it's death.

Now wish me success with an even number of tangs living in peace. Always heard, and read that tangs should be kept in odd numbers. The other reason for slama's yt to join the family.

I had two tangs in a 58 and it ended badly. I even had a feeling that the two tangs I had in the 90 was going no where good. The blue throat just totally through it off.

Then again look at Pierce, although his tanks always have a "Don't try this at home" sign on them, for me anyway.

The two tangs is the Problem from what I understand! That is why I wanted to get the third. I don't know if you guys remember Mr. Young @ Aquadic Treasures on Woodhaven Blvd. he was one of the people who told me that tangs must be kept in odd numbers.

Fred, how did the Blue throat through it off? Curious as to what you mean..

Even or odd, never heard of that theory and I just counted how many tangs are in the four separate tanks I have. Two tanks have even numbers and two have odd numbers, I have not noticed it made a difference in their survivability.

75 gallon tank is a bit small for the amount of fish you listed, changing 20% water a week does not take care the dominant tang's aggression and territorial instincts, swimming and hiding spaces will help reduce the beating other tangs will get, but they will eventually suffer from the constant harassment.

I deny having too many fish in any of my tanks.:shhh:

Awilda I heard the "odd tangs rule" as applied to yellow tangs back in the early 90s. This was explained to me by a guy that also explained how SW fish could not be kept without a wet dry and some dead coral over a bed of crushed coral.

In a 75 I would keep only one tang and one of the ones known to be more tolerant of small spaces. The Kole or Powder Brown would be a good choice but the Powder Browns get big and will quickly look funny in such a "small" tank. The blue throat will also grow quick and look out of place in a tank that size. In a very short time you will have 3 or 4 six inch fish not happy about all the eye contact going on. I don't know if you've ever had the pleasure of spending the night in central booking but that's the image that comes to mind with your fish list in a 75.

Pierce, I know! That is why I said I will be talking hubby into a fish room in our basement. Couple of recliners, nice stereo system, bar. Might just work. In any case only those 5'9" and under will be happy about the fish room. Ceiling height is redicously low, and no I'm not willing to go through the enormous task, and expense of lowering the floor in a flood zone area.

I have only been keeping SWF for 6 or so yrs. And I've tried both ways, and I found that the odd number system worked in my situations. Granted I only did it (if memory is working) 3 times. When I went with even numbers someone always died. Again about the same 3 times.

Guys, I got them a bigger home. 6' 125 g tank to be picked up sometime after July 8. The member I bought it from has so very graciously offerd his truck for transport. So the vehicle & driver are included in the deal, the labor unfortunately neither the MR member,I or my husband are able to do any heavy lifting. I thought I could count on my son & some of his buddies. But that is not likely.:redface:

Is there any chance that a couple of you strong fellas can help me out? I will pay you, just let me know what you are looking at $$ wise. It is the tank, stand, and approximately 2 or 3 buckets of dry sand. The stand is MDB so I don't think it will be that heavy.

Day & time is flexible, I'm sure we can work out a time that works for all.
