Hello Li my friend!
Well , it's nothing personal against the kingii, its just that if I can get 2 Clarions in the price of a kingii (or better say 4-5 if a shipment of Clarions will arrive) I'd go for the orange fish.
Just think about it....where would you bet your big bucks? Holacanthus or Apolmemichthys???

By the way, Li, our friend used to get kingii years back.

Several years back I was in Durban SOuth Africa on a business trip. A gentlemen at the company I was visiting set-up a trip for me to go diving in a location were these fish were. He also said that he could have someone collect some fish for me and shipped back to the US or I could hand carry them.

Well, the day of the dive the weather was really bad and we couldn't go out. I had to leave South Africa a few days later and was never able to visit these fish in their natural habitat :(

I also talked to this gentlemen about getting some fish shipped back but he never came through, I guess this is how it goes with rare fish.

Thanks again Mr Tanaka for the great picutre to remind me of this, someday I would like to get my hands on one. The prices right now are a little high for me so I guess I can only wait until the prices go down or I find someone in the states willing to part with one for a lower price.

Just my .02 cents
Dave

Many thanks for your detailed story. I hope that you can get a beautiful specimen someday.

Here is another shot of the same specimen. It is still alive at the shop.
