Hi all
I'd like to know why my puffer (arothron meleagris) often during the day breath by only one gill keeping the other closed and sometimes it has both gills opened normally?
It isn't flashing (scratching) it's gill against objects and isn't breathing rapidly near the surface, but normally. It hasn't symptoms that can be a result of gill flukes, it isn't showing any of these. Can it be common for puffers to choose to breathe through one or the other gill? My water parameters are ok and I'm doing regular water changes.
Two weeks ago I dipped it in formalin for three times and it had both gills opened. Now one closed !!!!! I know it is never a good idea to medicate a fish, until you are sure of a disease. It can do more harm than good.
What can I do? Please help me, I like that fish very much!
Thanks, Lorenzo
