Where have all the Purple Tangs gone?

Years of waiting to have a reef tank and now I cannot find a purple tang! What is the story behind this?

From what I heard, Saudi Arabia has shut down the collection point for Red Sea fish.
There will be a shortage of RS fish now.

All the better reason to go to Israel or Egypt and scuba dive to see them!

But - I saw purple tangs in the Caribbean, too, no? Do we also get them from there?

Acanthurus coeruleus (Atlantic Blue Tang) sub-adults could resemble Zebrasoma xanthurum (Purple Tang) in less than ideal lighting conditions.

a place in Long Island/Queens border had a few last week and I bought one about a month ago healthy but a bit pricey at $100. The store is called Petbarn on franklin avenue

Both fish were tough to photograph underwater (for me, at least), so I'm not surprised I got that wrong.

...guess I need more time underwater!!!
