I just got a shrimp goby 2 days ago. Is it typical for the goby to be under the sand for long periods of time??? If so, is there a typical schedule that gobies follow??? He was sifting sand earlier, but since 2 pm (last seen) he's disappeared.... at least I think so.

Yes, obviously this is my first goby. Any help???

They are notorious for vanishing in tanks. Chances are that its gone, or that its found a hole not in the line of sight for the tank. Try feeding some live brine to bring it out.

Good luck!

Um, did you check the floor behind the tank? Do you have a cat?

Some gobies are jumpers. My orange spotted went over the wall during the night, and my cat tried to wake me up to get him, but I didn't understand, so the goby dried up. I found my cat guarding him in the morning. Some cats, though, might make a meal of a flailing fish on the carpet, so you might not find the body.

Sorry if this is the case.
