I recently got a very nice PBT - about 3.5-4" in size, to replace one I had lost earlier to ich, (actually every fish in my tank).
After following all the proper procedures and, waiting the very long eight weeks,
I was able to successfully restock my tank - now ich free.
The tang, (and accompanying Red tail Tamarin wrasse bought at the same time), are to be my last wet additions of any kind.
The new replacement fish were put into a QT upon arrival. As of Monday,
they will have been in the QT for 4 weeks.
They both have been living happily together eating like pigs and growing quite fat!
Neither show any sign of bacterial or parasitical infections. Clear eyes, fins,
scales, etc. Colour has become much richer and looks better than when they arrived.
Respiration is unlabored and normal.
Normally I would after 4 weeks of no visible maladies, just add them to the main display BUT, because
of the type of fish- PBT, and it's reputation as an ich magnet, I was wondering if I should keep them in the QT for a full six weeks?
What are your thoughts?

Scumonkey, I'll be doing the same. Wait as long as possible. I'll be taking all my fish out of my fowlr into QT because there had been a ich outbreak in the tank 2 months ago. The fish in there are not showing sign but since I want to get a PBT I have no choice.

So even though the fish seems fine after 4 weeks they should be kept in QT for a full 6? That's not really a problem - but the QT is only 20 gal.
Would it be that likely that a PBT would still carry ich after 4 stressful weeks in a tiny QT with 85 degree lowered salinity water.
With something like a damsel I would believe it- sometimes they are so hardy it never shows (even though they have it), but a PBT?
I would have thought that if it was gonna get ich it would have been stressed out enough for it to already develop?
Anyone else have any thought on the subject?
PBT and wrasse remain in QT.
