Hey crew,
I got a CBB and it will only eat frozen shrimp. I have had it for at least 4 months in my FOWLR 55G. Does anyone have reccomendations for my roundamatic feeder when I take trips?

I have tried shrimp pellets, flake (spirulina & blend)& plankton. I have tried dipping the flakes in the shrimp juices, but it hasn't worked. Anyone have recommendations?

Thanks,
Rob

If you can train it to eat the frozen shrimp from the tip of a turkey baster, feeding a little less often making it a little more hungry at meal times...
You can gradually mix in small amounts of other items with the shrimp, that the fish will accidentally eat as it gobbles up it's reg fare. After a few "accidental gobbles" the fish will usually eat the new foods as well.
Good Luck!

I have a CBB, same deal, frozen mysis only.
I just tried some freeze dried plankton, he likes it. one problem was he could not eat the dried food so well. his little mouth could not chew the pieces. I diced them up and it worked a bit better for him. You can't starve a CBB into taking other food, the best you can do is offer it along side the other food and hope someday he takes it. in the mean time have someone come in and feed some frozen shrimp every other day while your gone.

The CBB actually spits out the flakes and dried plankton when he eats them. I may have to go with every other day feeding. I even tried putting some live brine in the slots of the feeder, but I found out that they dry out. At least that fixed my apstasia problem.
Is there any dried stuff that will look like and tast like the frozen brine. Or does anyone have any ideas to build something.

rob, I asked some of the engineer/designers on the site to make me a frozen food feeder a while ago. I think they forgot about it, or did not think I was serious.

are you feeding the cbb frozen brine shrimp only? I thought it was mysis. the brine shrimp does not contain enough nutrients to be a main diet. have you tried other frozen foods?

They are picky eatter to begin with ,It a charm to have them eat any prepaired food . Scumonkey might is on the right track ,but they are hard to get eatting ,so i would say be thankful they are

See if you can get someone from the board or your family to come by once every other day to feed the CBB ,

good luck ,

You can also try the ,Backwards soda bottle feeder ,,get some live brine shrimp ,fill a 20oz or bigger soda bottle with tank water and lots of LIVE brine ,,cut a small hole in the cap and pt it on the bottle (youl have to fne a way to attach to the tank thou) attach the bottle upside down with the cap in the water ,this will let the shrimp stay in the bottle and only swim out a now a then ,giving your fish some food from time to time

Jhale,
Thanks I alternate with mysis and brine. I'll phase out the brine. Let me know if you ever hear anything back from the engineers as this CBB will be tough to train. I'll PM you if I ever hear anything.
