Terry, I am wondering since you mention OSI (which my tangs adore), if
you have ever tried the OSI stick on tabs with your Achilles, and if so
did he like them ?

My Kole and Foxface are nuts for these things.

I have not tried them, but will. It's interesting that when I feed the tank, I feed a couple of tabs of frozen mystis shrimp, and while my six other tangs eat the shrimp the Achilles will not go near it, and waits for the OSI marine flakes or spirulina flakes. It will not even eat other brands of spirulina. Talk about a specialized feeder.

I'd like to share a slightly different perspective on A. achilles.

I recently attended an Hawaiian luau and was told beforehand that fish would be served (any idea where this is headed?). I was given a plate with a large fish wrapped in aluminum foil. When I gingerly peeled back the foil from the still steaming fish (cooked in foil over hot lava rocks), I was shocked - a whole and still beautiful 10" Achilles tang. My first thought was "I'm not going to eat this!" Pangs of hunder soon grew, and I was getting suspicious looks from the host (What, you no like Hawaiian food?). With a fair amount of guilt, I peeled back the dark skin and found a off-white flesh.
To the degree that I could, I must admit I enjoyed it. One of a few aquarists who has dealt with both feeding and eating issues with A. achilles, I suppose.

What always gets me is the "caprophaegus" (sp??) fish like the Kole Tang.

I also have a mimic tang (A. pyroferus) w/ very strange eating and "pooping" habits. I swear...this fish goes to the same place in my aquarium every time 'when nature calls' Since it's a comb-toothed tang, it picks up quite a bit of sand when it eats. This sand is all deposited in a nice little pile in the corner of my tank now...

Is any reefkeeper knows how to cure ick or white spot on blue regal tang? I bought the fish since two months ago I didn't quarantine my fish because it was the only fish I have, It was fine until I bought some helmet crab from Big L then my fish start getting the parasite. The fish's body have many little white spot on and off ,keep scartching the rock but still have a good appetize. Now I'm using Garlic X in the food for a month but the conditation still the same. I was thinking fresh water bath but with many live rock is very difficult to catch the fish.
