I lost 5 fish a yellow, powder blue, kole tang, jawfish, and a royal garamma. My nitrate and amonia are 0. Recent changes: I added a 10 lb tonga branch rock from someone elses tank, a green mushroom rock and green carpet anemone from the same tank. Besides this i added a chiller lower the temp from 82 to 78 over night. Could the new additions or temp drop stressed the fish too much? I noticed there was a little ichon the tangs previous, could they have been weak and this put them over the edge. All my corals look beutiful, water clear and I have a UV sterilizer running

Sorry to hear that. The story is weird though. All corals are fine? What type of tests are you using? I would buy others just in case. Pretty weird still. Is there anything else that died like snails and hermits. Are there any marks on the fishes body.

No way its the temp. that swing is too small for such a detrimental effect. You mentioned Ich and dead fish. Chances are your water simply sucks. But then again your corals are fine. That too depends on the coral. If by coral you are talking about Kenya trees, well they are harder to kill that cockroaches.

If however you are talking about SPS and their color is great etc etc then I would check for stray current in your tank. If there is a stray current just add a grounding probe. Cheap and effective. You should have one of these on your tank anyway.

Keep us posted. Im curious

Maybe stay up one night and make sure that the chiller didnt work a little too well? maybe the temp isnt working right and its actually getting much lower than 78? just a thought i've never actually used a chiller

dude it could be a stray current so that means any fish you put in there passes that current its over.

do you use any aerosol sprays, colonge, or cleaning produsts in the tank room? could you have dropped something in the tank? do you run phosban.

this could be endless until you yourself finds the problem. 5 dead fish in one night thats weird? i mean ive had a firefish jump out and die but thats it. no multiple deaths like that.
