I'm going to New World Aquarium in the morning, I will keep you in mind if I don't find anything there.

it depends. if it's packed in oils then i'd say no.

you really want to get something that's fresh, not packaged.

what's the size of your tank, and how old is it, in your avatar it looks pretty well established, i'm surprised there's not enough pods for it to eat in the tank.

again consider finding the fish a new home with a tank that has pods for it.
otherwise you can try to find as much cheato from people as you can get.
the cheato from fuges should be loaded with pods. shake the cheato in your tank to get the pods then set up a large hang on fuge on your tank asap to give the pods a place to grow.

I have a 36 gallon bow front tank. It's 3 1/2 yrs old. Can you tell me what is the Cheato from fuges? Sorry I'm still learning.

cheato is macro algae that people grow in the fuge to try to control nitrates.
it also gives pods a place to grow an thrive. it looks like an under water version of spanish moss.

your tank is plenty old enough to have pods, perhaps it's the size?
try to seed the tank with the cheato/pods method. look in the for sale section. if you can get the fuge eric has that would be great. put the cheato in that and hope there were enough pods for the fish.
there were people giving away cheato this week.

IMO a 36 gallon tank is too small for a Mandaran not eating frozen foods. There couldn't possibly be enough live rocks in a tank that size to adequately house pods. I am surprised it even took two months for the Mandaran to wipe out the pod population.

An in-tank fuge is a great idea. I used one for a seahorse tank that was only 12 gallons (was part of a 200+ gallon system though). I put Chaeto in there and added some tigger pods I bought from Reed Mariculture.

New World Aquarium doesn't usually have the live food you need. I would call before going. I was just there and they didn't even have Macro Algae. They do have frozen Mysis and cyclopeeze though.

Oceanpods.com and reed Mariculture sell live pods over the Internet. I used to order from both as they carry different types of pods. I thought I have seen people post on MR that Fishtown or other LFS have live pods. Maybe do a search on the board and see what you find.

As mentioned before, Live food is the best chance you have. It would be extremely lucky that in the Mandarans condition that he would suddenly start eating frozen foods (but you never know).

I have had great luck housing Mandarans with my seahorses and pipefish and getting them to eat frozen foods. It seems when I put the frozen mysis in the tank, the fury caused by everyone eating the mysis entices the Mandaran to try it out as well. I am 3 for 3 with this method. There is other methods people have tried that you can look into as well. I hate to link to another board but check out this thread: http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16572

A lot of the questions answered here could help you out in the future.
