Where you having trouble keeping up with the waste removal?

the nitrates were off the chart.
now they are 0.

from what i have heard they are not schooling fish. in jhale's case it may work since he has a big tank. pairs are 50/50, if you have a male and female it may work but if they are of the same sex they will fight.

I agree that they are not truly a schooling fish, I have never seen a school of them last, I beleive they are like Chromis and eventually thin themselves down to one or two.

I have two purple firefish and they seem to tolerate each other. As long as the smaller one doesn't overstep it's boundaries. He is still intimidated by the larger one but I haven't witness any aggression.
