I have a female maroon clown fish in my tank for about 1 week she is about 2 1/2". I just bout a male maroon clown fish he is about 1 1/2" i have him in a little tank floating in my 55gal reef tank so i can introduce the two fish. Im going to keep him in there for a couple of days to see how they react to each other. I just put the male clown in today and i see that maybe ever hour the female charges at the little tank which the male clown fish is in then stops before it and just looks at the male clown fish for a couple of seconds and go back into his area in the tank. This happins about every hour. Is that normal or should i be worried? How long do you think i should keep him in that little tank? Do you think this is a good idea?

Well at least you started off in the right foot. That is the recommended way of introducing maroons. I would keep the male there for a week and then analyze her behavior. See if her aggression starts to lessen. Does the male shiver when she charges? Once all these little signs are there, i think it's safe to put him back. But be prepared to bag him up and try again. Good luck.

Well when i woke up this morning i saw the female was just sitting below the container and stairing at the small WSC for about 10 minutes at a time and then she would go back down into the spot in the tank and slowly come back up and do that same thing only she does not charge the container she goes toward the container slowly and stairs at him for a while. The small WSC in the container stairs back for a minute and then just swims around. I hope this is a good sign or it could be a bad sign.

How do you know the smaller clown didn't morph into a female yet? When you bought the 'male' was it one of the smaller clowns in the tank? If it was a larger one then it could have already gone through it's change and you might have two females. Just a thought.

Well when i bought the clown he was the only one in the tank so im not sure if he is a male that is why im going through this prosses. The clown could be a female but do to its size i believe its a male but im not sure about that.
