Picked up a longnose hawkfish late friday afternoon. after acclimating, he sat on the sand for awhile after the lites went off at 8:30.

havent seen him since. been three days now. understand he may be getting used to things, but we havent seen a trace of him.

i know the hawkfish has no bladder and spends most of his time perched, but we've looked high and low with absolutely no sign.

is he a jumper? (looked all around floor but still no sign)

Not a good sign as most Hawk fish don't hide they just perched on a rock or coral. Have you tried feeding the tank, that may get him to come out.

They do and can jump so I would check around the floor. Also since they sit on the rock and don't move they can be an easy target for a crab, pistol shrimp or some predator.

Do you have any other aggressive fish that may have attack it.
