Steven

I was just talking with some the other night about using the reptile covers on the tank, to keep fish from jumping. The cover in the link is very similar to that. The only issue would be if you were using MH and would the heat melt the material that makes up the screen.

Mike, the guy is running 150 de HQI and no problems. It is clear mesh and won't rust like the reptile screens.

He just PM me and i will be ordering some, let me know if anyone wants some. I am waiting for him to give me a price since he seems to be the only one with this stuff.

Glass top is nice looking but my tank this moring was 84 degree!

Steve, that top will also block a lot of light. The wrasse jumping top I constructed barely blocks any light and has prevented 100% of my wrasse from jumping.

Here's the removable eggcrate:

Here's the eggcrate sitting on the top of the tank:

Clear doesn't matter. If there is any material it will block light. Even when you put glass there it blocks some light, same as plastic, acrylic, whatever.

Granted, my juryrigged top is fugly, but my tank is in-wall. You can't see that contraption from the front. :)

For a 48" x 12" he is charging me $20.00 shipped.

If you want to order some you can PM him and get a quote and have it shipped along with my order. I am paying him tonight and having it shipped tomorrow so you have until tonight.

Thanks,
Steven

heuerfan-what is the frame made out of?

it's a good thing i have a canopy. don't need to worry about the front or sides, now the back, that is a different story. i may use eggcrate for the back

I posted the wrong link, go ahead and click on it for more info :) He got the frame from Lowes, HD, Michaels, etc...

I would use eggcrate also if i had a canopy.

i would make this but out of clear plexiglass w/ maybe a clear center brace.

The clear netting with a window screen frame is a good idea, it will reflect or deflect less light than the eggcrates.

I would be a little concern about the durability of aluminum frame, and the possibility of the corroded aluminum dust falling into the tank after a while. Gluing the netting over a plastic\acrylic frame would last much longer.

I agree, and i believe there is a plastic frame out there, just need to find it. Thinking about gluing to a frame also.

Btw, any chance you know a Michael from Tommy Hilfiger?
