Wake up tday to my emperor vertical loss of color and labored breathing, phosphates at .25 nitrates at 5. Salt 1.026, I figured if I had a major swing in tanks corals would have shown it first. Not sure what it could be. Any suggestions?

It's very possible that it may have gotten stung by a coral/invert or eaten something that cause this problem. If the conditions in the tank are good there really isn't much you can do, outside of moving the fish into a QT.

+1, I think it ate something that it wasn't supposed too, QT him, maybe treat for parasites
and just wait it out.
