Good morning fellow reefers!:)

How do you go about catching a Yellow Coris Wrasse (Halichoeres Chrysus?

I have been trying to catch this guy/gal for about a week. I have tried baiting him/her with Nutramar, Mysis & Cyclopeeze with no luck...
Not feeding the tank, but that doesn't really matter since I am sure he/she is feasting on pods.

So what next? Even if I was to take the tank apart it will more then likely dive in to the sand be.:screama:

Hmmm..... maybe you cut a small bucket in half and fill it with fine sand that the wrasse may find appealing. If he buries himself you can just remover the container.

Good luck my dear, it took me 3 weeks to catch my Lunar wrasse.
what worked for me was an acrylic 12 cube, clear pepsi bottle, piece of rock, and a piece of silver side.
cut out the neck of the pepsi bottle, rubber banded the silver side to the rock
put the rock inside the pepsi bottle
netted the opening of the pepsi bottle
attached the bottle to the inside of the cube with fish line.
mounted the cube to the corner of the tank with a mag float
and waited for him to get used to going in their to snatch his meal
and wella after 3 weeks he was out.

Thanks guys!
Richie J, there's no room for a small bucket. Also, I think it has it's favorite sand spot already. Unfortunately I have no idea where that is. I think it is behind the rocks.

Richie K, that sounds a bit complicated.lol I'll read it again.;) But the silverside is a strong possibility.

Eric, a pepsi 2 litter bottle is what I have been using.;)

Do these suckers eat clams?

We used a fish trap from the store which was attached to fishing line. It took me and another reefer 2 hours to finally get him. We were fishing and being very patient. We baited it with mysis shrimp. Hopefully that helps. Good luck

just curious, why do you need to catch it?
Moving it to a different tank.

Good luck with that one I am on 3 weeks with the same fish and no luck
Thanks Warren!

I removed most of my rock that doesn't have coral in it. And chase the specific fish slowly but surely I tired them then they are a lot easier to get into the specimen container.
That works sometimes with most fish, but with wrasse that are fast, and very adept at burying themselves in the sand not so much.

LOL Already tried the mysis shrimp, and others such as cyclopeeze, nutrimar all to no effect.

If know where it sleep you can scoop it out with a big enough net. You will have to do it very quickly.

Unfortunately I do not know where that is. I think it is behind the rocks. As it appears, and disappears. I have try to watch carefully, but it has proven to be impossible.:banghead:

Thanks guys!!

Awi...if you can't find it's sleeping spot than the fish trap is your only option w/o breaking down the rockwork...just be patient....most fish I can catch from a hour to within day, but took me six days to catch a sixline...
Hi Mike!
I don't think he is coming out without my tearing the rockwork apart, and removing the sand bed as well. The bottle trap is still in the tank. Only feeding Oyter Feast & Roti Feast once a week to the corals. Unfortunately (yet happy) there are tons of pods in the tank so he is well fed!:sigh:
I have gone 5 days without feeding anything, and then put some mysis, or cyclopeeze, or nutramar, or a uncooked table shrimp with no results. It isn't even interested, no curiosity what so ever.
He sleeps behind the rocks in at the right side of the tank where I can not get to.:irked:
