Powder blues are nasty fish. They should be the last fish that you add to the tank. I agree with the tangs, they will swim around alot.

There was a mention of a mandarin, I am not sure how long your tank is running. Make sure that you have a MATURE tank before you put a mandarin in, unless you get one that eats frozen/pellet.

I am a fan of cowfish now....

if fish only and no inverts to snack on pick up a wrasse or two, for awhile saw some posts on paisr of blue throats triggers. i always seem to suggest a few anthias too, nice coloring and active- wont break bank either. how close are you to max reef aquatics? they get tremendous reviews here and i believe they are in your area def. worth a look

do you want a bunch of little fish or a couple big ones? a pair of triggers or larger tangs will fill up the tank pretty quick and could make adding fish at a later date kind of difficult. if you start with smaller fish you can always add bigger/more aggressive ones later.

you might also want to think about adding fish that will be active in different parts of the tank. the hawk probably stays mostly on the rocks in the middle of the tank. you could add a yellow watchman goby who will mostly stay around the bottom of the tank, and maybe some wrasses that will swim around the cracks and crevices. then find some other fish that will hang out in the water column (cardinals or something maybe) and you will have a pretty active tank without having to much to worry about fighting.
